Coín Romería held in June 2006
Romería means Pilgrimage and is traditionally held out side the towns and villages throughout Spain. It starts early in the morning with a parade of horse riders, horse and tractor drawn wagons and people walking in traditional costumes.

The parade can last all day if there are many people in it, they eventually arrive at a venue where the event turns in to a fiesta that lasts all night. The next day they set off and retrace their steps and arrive back where they started the day before.
When you arrive at the venue you will see the grounds edged with Peña's who have gone to great trouble to create elaborate bars and houses for entertaining.

This year the Mayor of Coín (
D. Gabriel Jesús Clavijo Sánchez) was seen serving drinks to the people attending the festival. The Mayor is very popular and has done a lot to enhance Coín so seeing him serving drinks is not a surprise but more of a demonstration of the type of person he is, which makes him so popular.
