Informaton on inland Costa del Sol
Coín
One of Coín's passions is it's love of horses. All year round groups of horesmen/women get together in the surrounding villages and in Coín itself.
I could give you all the stats about the village of Coín, but you can find that on any number of websites relating to the Costa del Sol.
What I am going to tell you about is the fun and passion that can be found in this wonderfull old Spanish village. For example did you know that the New Years Eve party held in Coín is one of only 3 in Spain that is fancy dress? Each year the party gets bigger and bigger and the costumes more ornate. People spend all year planning for this and the results are spectacular. This wesite will post pictures of the 2006 party at a later date (well tecnically after the party in 2007...)
But we can post pictures of the recent Remaría held just outside of Coín. This is an all weekend event and starts on Saturday with procession involving horse riders, wagons and people walking, this can last all day if there are a lot of people taking part. They then end up at the venue, where the party starts and this lasts all night. At the party all the local Peña's have bars set up all around the location and invite you to partake....however, unbelievably with all this alcohol flowing no fights erupt...well that is why we live in Spain, the latin temperament is such that they just get rowdy not aggressive.
Later on in the year Coín will have it's Feria, which again is one of the best in the region...we will post photo's of this once it has happened.
